Home > News and Events > Youth Field Day A Day at the Cattle Auction Youth Field Day Manhattan, KS We were so excited to share our love of cattle and the beef industry with more than 300 third and fourth grade students, as part of our "Brand That Works" sale. We were proud to partner with many great friends to provide a program and BEEF lunch for the students. While much fun was had, we also hope that these students will remember beef's benefits in their diets and what they learned about cattle production. Students fill the sale ring and prepare for the bidding to start. While learning about sales and how cattle are raised, bought and sold. Eager bidders clamor for the auctioneers eye. These kids are excited about beef! John Cline calls the mock sale while Dave Breiner moves a heifer around the ring. Chad and Diane Breiner pose with the winning bidders! Students then had the opportunity to visit different stations staffed by the K-State Collegiate Cattlewomen to learn more about beef. One station focused on different phases of production. Students get an up close look at beef byproducts. Students also learned about the importance of beef as a part of a balanced diet. Students ate a sack lunch provided by many local businesses.
